Oh na na, what's ma name? Well, Rihanna's first name is Robyn, and that's exactly what she wants to name her upcoming digital magazine. There's just one problem: DC Comics wants to stop Rihanna from using the name, claiming that it is too similar to the name of Batman's ever-sidekick, Robin.
According to Fact Mag, DC Comics is attempting to block Rihanna's application to trademark the name. The comic book company submitted their complaint last week, arguing that Rihanna's magazine idea is "identical and/or highly related" to their existing properties. That's impossible though, because the only thing you could confuse her "online non-downloadable general feature magazines," with is a blog.
Yet DC Comics believes that a Robyn magazine "is likely to cause confusion, cause mistakes, or to deceive the public." Yep, that's why everyone gets confused when Swedish pop star Robyn goes on tour or tries to make a dinner reservation. They're all expecting a superhero in tights.
As ridiculous as DC Comics might come across in this situation, this is the latest in Rihanna's legal troubles—the 27-year-old singer is also facing plagiarism charges for "Bitch Better Have My Money." Homegirl better have some damn good lawyers.
