Authorities in Maryland say a woman was discovered pushing her dead son in a swing earlier this week.
The Washington Post reports that a call went out to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office just before 7 a.m. Friday morning about a woman pushing a child on a swing at La Plata, Md.'s Wills Memorial Park. According to the Post, a spokeswoman with the sheriff's office said the three-year-old had been dead for "at least several hours":
Richardson said that the child and his mother had been seen by witnesses at the park the day before, but it was unclear if the child was alive then. Authorities are investigating the mother’s movements and do not yet know whether she left the park during the night.
Noting that the boy's body displayed no signs of trauma, the Post adds that the sheriff's office is awaiting the results of an autopsy.
