Filming Will Officially Begin on Six New 'X-Files' Episodes in June

The six-episode event series, as hyped since March, will see David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprise their iconic roles.

Though David Duchovny has been busy promoting his debut album and hunting Charles Manson, the accomplished multihyphenate will step back into FBI agent Fox Mulder's conspiracy-laden shoes as early as next month. As reported by Production Weekly, shooting will officially commence in June on the six-episode The X-Files event series in Vancouver. Specifically, the cameras will roll between June 8 and August 14.

Blood Disgusting speculates that this could likely set the series up for an October debut, which seems plausible. Duchovny joins Gillian Anderson (reprising her role as FBI agent Dana Scully), creator Chris Carter, and writers James Wong and Glen Morgan.

In a press release announcing the X-Files return back in March, creator Chris Carter maintained the narrative posited by David Duchovny — this new batch of episodes will not cross into hackneyed reboot territory. “I think of it as a 13-year commercial break,” says Carter. “The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”
