It's time for a new generation. Rocky Balboa (and to an extent, his nemesis-turned-confidante Apollo Creed) fought the good fight and won most of them, but those days are in the past now. It's someone else's turn—namely, it's Apollo Creed's son, Adonis Creed's turn.

Michael B. Jordan stars as the son of the late boxing legend in Creed, which from the look of this first trailer, is going to be a throwback to the early Rocky movies—a gritty, rough tale of an underdog. Adonis is a fledgling, admittedly undersized (sorry, Michael B.) boxer in Philadelphia struggling to climb the sport's ladder, with more than a chip on his shoulder from the fact that his father—who he never met—died from the very sport he's trying to break into. That's until your dude Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) comes into the picture.

Say what you want about the later movies in the Rocky series or 2006's Rocky Balboa, but with Fruitvale Station's Ryan Coogler at the helm, Creed looks to be on the right track, wholly concerned with telling a great story rather than servicing fans. I mean seriously, just try not to get pumped up watching that final sequence of the trailer that hearkens back to Rocky's run through Philly.

Creed hits theaters on November 25.
