Jaden Smith blessed us today with his return to social media and he will continue to bless us with his upcoming appearance in Baz Luhrmann’s Netflix drama The Get Down—The story of a group of teens from the South Bronx growing up in a seedy, not-yet-gentrified 1970s New York City stirring up trouble as the hip-hop and punk music scenes were just beginning.

Smith, who is already working on the show, will play 18-year-old Marcus “Dizzee” Kipling, 18, a graffiti writer. Luhrmann spoke about Smith saying,

1.

“He has begun developing his The Get Down skill set, even taking lessons from the legendary graffiti artist Lady Pink of ‘Wild Style’ fame, as well as steeping himself in the history and culture of the Bronx.”

Smith joins a cast including Dope star Shameik Moore, Skylan Brooks, Justice Smith, and Tremaine Brown Jr.
