Did the entire country somehow mature in the last three years? No, no, that can't be it. There must be another reason why Ted 2 isn't living up to expectations at the box office

Seth MacFarlane's R-rated, animated bear movie sequel made $32.9 million in its opening weekend, about $15 million less than the studios were expecting, and about $20 million less than the original Ted made in its debut, Variety reports.

That was enough to land in third place for the weekend, behind Jurassic World ($54.2 million) and Inside Out ($52.1 million).

The original Ted was a surprise hit that made $549.4 million globally on a $50 million budget. The sequel reportedly cost $85 million to make.
