Canada’s film industry is hot right now. With David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, taking over Toronto, it’s easy to see why the 6ix is called “Hollywood North.” But while Ontario’s capital gets a whole lot of love, we mustn't forget about the other big city, Vancouver. Its bustling core and beautiful surrounding area have made cameo appearances in some of the biggest blockbusters in recent memory. Blink, and it may be hard to realize that your favorite flicks were shot in the depths of the BC forests, or the vast cityscapes of the 604. To help boost your city pride, here are ten movies that you didn’t realize were shot in Vancouver.

Twilight

Twilight’s universe is trademarked by the misty aura of its locale. The franchise was aided by unsettling forests that helped to establish a truly creepy tone. In actuality, much of the film's aesthetic can be credited to the busy metropolis of Vancouver. Local landmarks like the Ridge Theatre and David Thompson High School were utilized for interior shots in subsequent sequels. We wouldn’t have guessed it either, because walking around Vancouver doesn’t make us cover our necks at every turn.

X-Men: The Last Stand

We're all pretty excited about X-Men: Apocalypse. But before we get a taste of what's next in the franchise, we can revisit the original trilogy. Sure, X-Men: Last Stand wasn't the pinnacle of film, but it was still pretty cool. It must’ve been awesome for local British Columbians to see their favorite Marvel superheroes duke it out in-person. I mean, we know they aren’t the real deal, but we can still dream. Neighboring, Tsawwassen, was the lucky township to fall victim to Phoenix's final form.
