Today, Governor of California Jerry Brown signed a new vaccination law into effect—one of the toughest in the nation. The Los Angeles Times reports that Brown cited "weakened public health defenses" against preventable diseases like measles as part of the reason why California is getting this new law. Last December, an outbreak of measles started in Disneyland and spread, infecting 150 people.

Not everyone is on board with the new law—take Jim Carrey. He called Gov. Brown a "corporate fascist" and said the new law would lead to "poisoning more children."

California Gov says yes to poisoning more children with mercury and aluminum in manditory vaccines. This corporate fascist must be stopped.

Gawker covered Carrey's tweets under the headline "Somebody Stop Him," writing "Don't, please. Just don't."

They say mercury in fish is dangerous but forcing all of our children to be injected with mercury in thimerosol is no risk. Make sense?

But the man did—he tweeted three more times after that, trying to explain his rationale. About an hour later, Carrey clarified that he is not against all vaccines—just some of them.

I am not anti-vaccine. I am anti-thimerosal, anti-mercury. They have taken some of the mercury laden thimerosal out of vaccines. NOT ALL!
The CDC can't solve a problem they helped start. It's too risky to admit they have been wrong about mercury/thimerasol. They are corrupt.

Calling the Center for Disease Control a "corrupt" organization, Carrey sounds like a straight-up conspiracy theorist, especially when you consider that scientists have repeatedly debunked the claim that vaccines can lead to autism in children.

"The science is clear that vaccines dramatically protect children against a number of infectious and dangerous diseases," said Brown today. Someone show Carrey the light
