A man was arrested as many as five days after he broke into a New Jersey family's home and was caught hiding under the family's daughter's bed by her father, WABC reports

According to the police investigation, Jason Hubbard snuck into the family's home in Spotswood, New Jersey through an open door while someone was taking out the trash. Once inside, he stayed under a bed in a spare bedroom and charged his four cell phones with a nearby outlet.

Hubbard was discovered when the homeowner heard a noise coming from the bedroom, proceeded to look under the bed, and immediately called the police. Hubbard has since been charged with burglary and theft of electricity.

Margaret Adamcewicz, the homeowner's wife, told WABC that Hubbard and her daughter dated five years ago. "It didn't end well... He didn't say why he came back. He just picked our house to hide out in. He didn't have a home to live in." She added that she thinks Hubbard did not eat during while he was in her home, and only drank water.

"I haven't heard from him in five years," said Adamcewicz. "I wasn't scared, I was just angry."
