Chris Hyndman, the co-host of the Canadian afternoon talk show Steven and Chris, is dead at 49, the CBC announced Tuesday.

Hyndman's body was found in an alleyway in Toronto's east end near the intersection of Queen Street and Broadview Avenue on Monday night. Toronto police told CBC News on Tuesday that Hyndman was found without vital signs in an alleyway shortly after 11:00pm.

"It is with profound sadness that we share the news Christopher Hyndman died early this morning," an excerpt of the memo that the CBC posted online Tuesday afternoon read. "We extend our deepest sympathies to Steven, family, friends and colleagues; our thoughts are with them all."

Hyndman co-hosted the Steven and Chris show with his husband, Steven Sabados. The CBC's popular afternoon lifestyle show has been covering everything from fashion to cooking to daily events since 2008.

Hyndman and Sabados were known for their chemistry and cheeky back and forth. The pair founded a design company, the Sabados Group, in 1992 and went on to host Designer Guys on HGTV and So Chic with Steven and Chris before launching their eponymous talk show.

The pair were sharing Instagram photos of a vacation in Barbados as recently as Monday.

The CBC has confirmed that it has immediately pulled Steven and Chris from the air.
