Family Destroys Dead Teen’s Tomb After Hearing Banging Coming From Inside Coffin

And that's only one part of this strange story.

A family in Honduras broke down a teen’s tomb after believing the teen was very much alive, spanish language news program Primer Impacto reports. Neysi Perez, a 16-year-old who was three months pregnant at the time of her death, reportedly started foaming at the mouth one night as her eyes rolled back into her head. Perez’s religious family thought she was possessed and called upon the help of a priest who tried to perform an exorcism. He was reportedly unsuccessful, as Perez’s husband, Rudy Gonzales, said that something that was controlling Perez refused to cooperate and that when the priest asked if Perez was still in her body the voice said no.

Soon after Perez collapsed and was rushed to the San Pedro Sula hospital where doctors declared her dead.

A day after Perez’s burial, Gonzales says he went to the cemetery and heard a banging noise coming from Perez’s coffin, but ultimately chocked it up to nerves. His story coincided with what cemetery worker Jesus Villanueva had also heard. Villanueva said he heard banging and thought it was coming from the tomb. Both men must’ve shared their thoughts with Perez’s family because they decided to smash the tomb to recover Perez’s body. They then took the teen, buried in her wedding dress, to a hospital where doctors examined her after the family insisted she was alive.

Hours later doctor Claudia Lopez officially declared her dead. Perez’s family believes she was buried alive since the glass top of the coffin was broken, although a coroner said it was probably due to a release of Perez’s bodily gases, and because her fingers were bruised, perhaps a sign that she was trying to claw her way to safety.
