Clearly in some sort of battle to out-Alabama Alabama, Kentucky is crashing back into headlines this week with a name that is sadly familiar: Kim Davis. Davis is a county clerk in Rowan County, infamous for her appearance in a viral video displaying her baffling refusal to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples following the nationwide legalization of such unions during a historic moment for equality in June of this year.

Davis was promptly sued by five couples, a damning litigation which likely inspired U.S. District Judge David L. Bunning's ruling on Wednesday that Davis must comply with the Supreme Court's ruling. As these things often go down in Kentucky, Davis simply took Bunning's ruling and converted it into fuel for her stupidity. Presumably after downing coffee from her favorite Bill O'Reilly coffee mug (Davis seems like a hazelnut creamer type, yeah?), Davis refused to issue a marriage license to David Moore and David Ermold on Thursday, mere hours after Bunning's order.

Davis, as one could easily guess, is refusing to issue the licenses on the grounds of Christianity. Aside from such an argument's status as an obvious guise for full-blown hate, Davis' refusal "likely violates the constitutional rights of her constituents," says Bunning. According to the Associated Press, Bunning carefully perused and swiftly rejected practically each word of Davis' flimsy legal arguments. "Her religious convictions cannot excuse her from performing the duties that she took an oath to perform as Rowan County Clerk," Bunning said in a statement.

Get your sh:)t together, Kentucky.
