After a stellar kickoff in Chicago earlier this month, the #MyDesignCity Series arrived in San Francisco this past Saturday for a two-part event that brought out the best of the City by the Bay.

Launched by FIAT and Complex, #MyDesignCity features a series of pop-up art galleries and events arriving in three different cities across the country throughout August. For the San Francisco leg of the tour, #MyDesignCity set up shop at the historic Firehouse 8 in the city’s Russian Hill neighborhood. From 3-7 PM, about 200 invited guests and lucky passersby were able to check out some incredible pieces that were on display, as well as enjoy some cotton candy from the folks at the always tasty Sugar and Spun, who created some delicious custom flavors in honor of the event. It was certainly a great way to spend a sun-filled day.

Once 7 PM rolled around, it was time to get the real party started, and #MyDesignCity became a 21+ affair with an open bar sponsored by 1800 Tequila. Over 300 guests sipped on the evening’s signature cocktail, the Lower East side, while listening to an eclectic mix of house, afro funk, and hip-hop music from DJ J Boogie. There was also a food truck on site serving up tasty treats including Kalua Pork, Moa-Fried Chicken, BBQ pulled pork, burgers, portobello mushrooms, tater tots and slaw. After indulging in all of this culinary goodness, guests were able to check out the FIAT 500X Crossover, which was on display, and enter for a chance to win a brand new FIAT of their own.

But let’s not forget what #MyDesignCity is all about, which is showcasing the work of some of today’s best artists. On display at the San Francisco event were pieces by featured artist Apex, as well as ones by Kelly Tunstall, Ferris Plock, Jet Martinez, and Mike Bam Tyau. Needless to say, #MyDesignCity was a showcase like they’ve never experienced before.

The #MyDesignCity series wraps things up with its final event in Austin, TX on August 29th. Be sure to stay tuned for news and pics from what’s sure to be an epic finale.
