Bill Nye has had enough of the abortion debate. In a new video from Big Think, the famous scientist weighs in on the debate and argues for a woman's right to choose. He also nails anti-abortion proponents for their bad science. "It's just a reflection of a deep scientific lack of understanding," he says. "You apparently literally don't know what you're talking about."

Nye has a simple answer to the abortion debate: "When it comes to women's rights with respect to their reproduction, I think we should leave it to women." Legislators, he says, are basing their opinions on their erroneous interpretation of a book "written 50 centuries ago." At one point he becomes so frustrated that his words tumble into each other: "Let me do that again. Let me just pull back."

His frustration stems from the fact that lawmakers are still arguing about abortion rights, despite the face that we have much bigger problems to solve...like, say, climate change, which heralds the imminent destruction of our planet. Back in July he announced a Kickstarter-funded documentary, which has since been fully funded, that takes aim at climate change deniers. Bill Nye, American hero, is trying to change the world, one controversy at a time. And he's smart enough to recognize when lawmakers are making things worse.
