Pacific Rim 2 is about as dead as a certain Game of Thrones character, according to Guillermo del Toro.

A few days ago The Hollywood Reporter announced that the sequel to 2013’s Pacific Rim "has been halted indefinitely" leading del Toro fans to get Hellboy déjà vu. But fear not! He’s crushing those rumors telling Entertainment Weekly, “We are still turning in a screenplay and a budget in three weeks.” And if that wasn’t direct enough for you, “As far as I’m concerned, it’s not gone. We’re still on it,” he said. Though he did mention the film had been pushed back, possibly making room for another del Toro project before then.

Pacific Rim’s $100 million “disappointing” domestic box office, surpassed by its $400 million international box office, might have made studio execs weary of a sequel, but not del Toro, who confidently said he’d spend guap to make sequels for Pacific Rim and Hellboy

“I can tell you this, if I was a billionaire, I would definitely do Hellboy 3, Pacific Rim 2, and At the Mountains of Madness. And I would quickly become a millionaire.”
