A Harry Potter sequel is on the way, but not in the way you’d expect, which can mean bad news or good news, depending if you were a fan of the book series or the film franchise. What J.K. Rowling is calling “the official eighth Potter story” is Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, a play.
Set 19 years after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Cursed Child will follow a grown up Harry, fathering of three, including his son Albus Severus, a presumably angst-ridden kid living in his father’s shadow. He's most likely the titular "cursed child." The play, based on the story penned by Rowling, director John Tiffany, and writer Jack Thorne, is set to open (unfortunately) overseas in London’s Palace Theater next summer.

For those of us too broke to travel for the play, we can take comfort in at least being able to revel in Rowling's magical world once again with Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them come Nov. 18, 2016.
