A couple on their way to Hawaii thought they’d enjoy a nice, peaceful flight but were stunned (and really disgusted) when they found a bag of vomit in their seat pocket.

According to Mashable, Janet Masters and her husband alerted a flight attendant about the bag and that’s when the situation escalated from mildly annoying to horrifying in one swift second. In the process of handing over the unwanted fluid, the bag burst open and its contents were dumped all over the couple.

“Here’s someone’s bodily fluids that I’m being exposed to," Masters told CBS Sacramento. “Smelling that smell on us and around us was just totally, totally disgusting." The couple was gifted with new seats but that won’t wipe away the trauma of situation. They also received a $300 travel voucher from United, but only after their story made it to media outlets.

A spokesperson for the airline told reporters that cleaners "apparently failed to clean all of the seat-back pockets." As for Masters, it’s safe to say she won’t be returning to United. "I’ve lost a lot of faith and trust with the airline."
