With a predominately white lineup, you could say there’s a diversity problem on late night television. At least, that’s what Aziz Ansari insinuated when he stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to promote his Netflix series Master of None.

“Stephen’s the first late night host from South Carolina…and the bajillionth white guy,” he joked in the clip uploaded to YouTube. The comedian is also a South Carolina native. Colbert continues the conversation by asking if having him on the show counts toward diversity. Aziz, who tackles the issue on his well-received show, answers with a “yes” before adding, “It’s really diverse right now. This is like an all-time high for CBS.”

While his jabs were witty enough to warrant a handshake from Colbert, Aziz's takedown of the network's seemingly homogenous lineup began earlier that day on Twitter. (His father also stars in the Netflix series and was present backstage during the interview.)

My dad and I may have made TV history - there will be more Indian people than white people on CBS when we guest on Colbert tonight.
