How does 500 calories a day sound? Not exactly Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson’s difficult to emulate 10 pounds of food daily diet, right? Well, that’s exactly what In the Heart of the Sea star Chris Hemsworth (NOT Liam Hemsworth) did to nail down that whole weathered whale-chaser look, which is pretty appropriate for a movie based on events that inspired the tale of noted oceanic celebrity Moby Dick. Hemsworth took to the 'gram on Sunday to reveal his transformation, adding that he wouldn't necessarily recommend the diet to a friend.

"We have to shoot the really skinny stuff where we drop down to 500, 600, 700 calories a day, a good three or four weeks," Hemsworth told Entertainment Tonight during shooting. "I spend more time thinking about food than anything else at the moment." The Ron Howard-helmed In the Heart of the Sea also stars Cillian Murphy, Tom Holland, and Benjamin Walker. The film, which follows the real-life events that inspired the Herman Melville classic Moby-Dick, is based on Nathaniel Philbrick's 2000 non-fiction book of the same name.

As many other brave reference-makers have stated before us, dude also kind of looks like a more fashionable Tom Hanks circa Cast Away:
