Don’t be surprised if your free Halloween candy came with something extra this weekend. The Poughkeepsie Journal is reporting that a 13-year-old girl found an opened Snickers bar among her trick-or-treating haul at the Galleria Mall on Saturday night and her mom soon discovered a mysterious pill lodged inside.

“It was separated at the ends,” parent Joann Turner said of the bar. “It looked like it was carefully opened and slipped back in. The ends had been sliced with something like a razor or a knife.” She called the police to report the pill, which had “4” written over it.

“I couldn’t believe it happened in my backyard,” she added. “I am really shocked. I have always checked my children’s candy and never found anything. Luckily, my paranoia caused my daughter to question why the package was opened.”

Police have taken the pill to test its contents and are still investigating the situation. Although this goes without saying, they’re also urging parents to check their children’s candy before chomping down. The mall's management is said to be cooperating with the investigation.
