A mass shooting on Sunday evening at a local park in New Orleans has left at least 16 people hospitalized, authorities say. The shooting occurred around 7 p.m. at Bunny Friend Park in NOLA's Upper Ninth Ward where a few hundred people were present. Authorities are reportedly seeking two or more individuals connected with the shooting.

WWLreports that the Nine Times Second Line parade had taken place earlier in the day a mere blocks from the location of the shooting, and a group of individuals present were reportedly shooting a music video when shots were fired. Witnesses told WWL that "at least two gunmen were shooting into the crowd."

NOLA.com spoke with a nurse on the scene who wished to remain anonymous but claimed it "sounded like New Year's Eve, when celebratory gunfire often occurs, all over again." They add:

Three witnesses said they saw a man with a silver-colored machine gun head toward Louisa Avenue. They also heard more gunshots coming from within the crowd as he ran away.

WDSUreports that NOPD claim ten people have been hospitalized, though Reuters and others report that the number of wounded individuals is as high as 16.

We'll update as more information becomes available.
