The University of Missouri police department arrested this morning a 19-year-old white man for making threatening black students on the social media platform Yik Yak. Several anonymous posts surfaced last night, featuring both cryptic and specific threats against African Americans on campus.

Hunter Park was apprehended in Rolla, Mo. this morning and transported to the MUPD, which arrested him for making terroristic threats. He is not a student at Mizzou, and police say he made threats on other social media platforms.

Numerous Twitter users expressed fear in wake of last night's threats and hesitation to attend classes today. Columbia Missourian staff report seeing less students than usual. A Starbucks near campus reportedly had to close because enough of the staff weren't willing to work in light of the threats.

In addition to the Yik Yak threats, the Black Culture Center went into lockdown after receiving phone threat during a meeting between Missouri Legislative Black Caucus and members of the group Concerned Student 1950, the major catalyst in the protests at Mizzou. Another student reported being threatened at Speaker's Circle.

The university is still operating on a normal schedule
