The wildly successful and equally entertaining Guardians of the Galaxy introduced us to Star-Lord, known mostly as Peter Quill because no one actually calls him Star-Lord, played by Chris Pratt. Early on we learn Quill is abducted from Earth as a young boy, right after his mother passes away, and is raised by a group of thieving aliens called the Ravagers.Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to reveal Star-Lord's, ahem, guardian, and The Wrap reports he might just be played by Kurt Russell

Sources have said that Russell is being eyed for the super sequel though he hasn't been offered the part and hasn't read the script. In the first Guardians audiences get some tidbits about Quill's mysterious M.I.A. father. First off they learn Quill's father hired the Ravagers and their leader Yondu Udonta to find Quill and bring him to him. Then they learn this mystery man isn't human. Quill gets told by the Nova Corps that he's part human on his mother's side but that his father is of an ancient species the Corps hasn't seen in a long time.

The Marvel journey awaits Russell after a year of appearing in two large ensembles: Furious 7 and Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to premiere May 5, 2017.
