According to Jimmy Fallon Fans, ‘Sup’ and ‘Yo’ Are More Common Greetings Than ‘Hello’

Adele took ownership of the word when she used it as the title of her first single back from hiatus, and it’s commonly spoken when answering the phone. But for some reason, “hello” failed to crack the top three answers for a one-word greeting according to the Tonight Show audience. 

The question was part of a comedic segment in which Eva Longoria squared off against Jimmy Fallon for a condensed version of “Family Feud.” In its stead, "sup" and "yo" were among the most popular choices. Seriously, is nothing sacred? That’s likely one of the most common words in the English language. Nonetheless, Fallon’s audience redeemed itself by selecting “Jingle Bell” as the most annoying holiday song.
