Two weeks after local authorities had initiated a search for Michael Cavallari after finding his car abandoned, the Grand County Sheriff’s Office in Utah is now reporting that a body "believed to be that of Michael Cavallari" has been found. Search crews, according to Grand County officials, found the body near a "steep and very rocky" area.

"We want to thank everyone for their love, support and prayers during this very difficult time," Kristin Cavallari, Michael's sister, said in a statement to People. "We have just been informed by the authorities my brother’s body has been found. This is a very painful time and we are still processing it all. We kindly ask everyone please respect our privacy during our time of grieving."

Earlier this week, Kristin shared a photo of Michael as a child alongside a message of thanks for everyone who had been supporting the Cavallari family during this difficult time. "I appreciate all the concern, thoughts, and prayers that have been extended to me and my family," Kristin wrote. "I have such gratitude for all those that have shared their support."

On Nov. 27, authorities were notified of an abandoned 2014 Honda Civic but were unable to find the driver upon conducting a search of the immediate area. After tracing the vehicle to Michael, credit card receipts reportedly led officials to a convenience store where security footage confirmed him as the driver. As of time of publication, a cause of death had not been determined.
