Instagram's notorious anti-nudity guidelines, which many a brave warrior has tried to battle against (Chrissy Teigen, Chelsea Handler), have not stopped one woman’s account dedicated to photographing herself practicing yoga in the nude. The account, aptly titled @Nude_YogaGirl, features black and white photos of said woman contorting into different yoga poses as she offers tidbits of wisdom to her followers, the naked truth, if you will.
The identity of the 25-year-old photographer, model, and yogi, is unknown as the woman has remained anonymous, even in an interview with The Cut. In a month of her account's existence she has amassed over 36,000 followers. When asked by The Cut why she started the account she explained, "I always try to find new ways to express myself. I'm very inspired by yoga and photography, so I wanted to bring the two of them together in a pure way. I also love to write and give people tips for healthier and happier lives." Some of those tips, always radiating positivity, tackle topics like stress and body acceptance even though Nude Yoga Girl herself hasn't always been positive.
"My biggest issue in the past was that I saw faults in my body all the time, and that made it impossible for me to love myself fully," she told The Cut. "The way you look doesn't matter — anybody can see faults and have that feeling of not liking themselves. With my account I want to inspire people to realize that everybody is very beautiful and capable of [doing] amazing things with their bodies. Yoga helped me accept my body exactly the way it is. Nowadays people can easily get a very false idea of ideal beauty and what nudity truly means because it's shown mostly in a sexual and unrealistic way."
