If you've seen The Shining, which you all should have seen, you know there are certain images from the Stanley Kubrick horror film you'll never be able to forget. Matt and Susan Davis, a Fort Myers couple taking a weekend cruise, however, witnessed something a lot more frightening than any old movie.

Along with their family, the two had taken a trip on Carnival's Ecstasy to celebrate Christmas. While their first nights were as pleasant as can be, they experienced something horrific on their third evening—and filmed it. Matt noticed blood dripping from the elevator shaft, a scene right out of The Shining. Except real.

The couple shared photos, a video, and their story with Fox 4. They were apparently headed to dinner on the Sunday night of their trip when they came across the horrific scene. "To look and see the elevator with just blood coming down like a sheet, and not stopping... it was a real life scene of The Shining," Matt told the news station.

A waiter had told the couple that an electrician had gotten hurt, and eventually the scene was tidied up and closed off to the cruise-goers. It was later revealed that the man was 66-year-old Jose Sandoval Opazo, who died later that night. The circumstances surrounding his death are currently being investigated by the Miami-Dade police department.

You can watch the video above and hear the Davis's tell their story. But a fair warning: it's pretty gruesome.
