On Tuesday evening, DC Entertainment came to play. AfterMarvel announced the return of Steve Rogers to the Captain America comics, DC hit back with a few gifts of their own. With the help of resident comic book fanboy Kevin Smith, the legendary company dropped a surprisingly fun new Suicide Squad trailer, plus a sneak peek at the upcoming Wonder Woman solo film and a first look at Jason Momoa as Aquaman. It all went down during the special DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League, which aired on the CW Network the same night as The Flash’s return from hiatus.

Wonder Woman will explore the feminist icon’s origins as an Amazonian princess who travels to the world of Man and becomes a superhero. The film stars Gal Gadot as the titular character, Robin Wright and Star Trek’sChris Pine. This is the first time the famous character is being brought to the big screen in her own film which is scheduled for release June 23, 2017.

Aquaman isn’t that well known in popular culture outside of his ability to communicate with sea creatures. The titular character, whose real name is Arthur Curry, is both a human and a god. As Geoff Johns, Chief Creative Officer at DC Comics, explained, the under appreciated character struggles with two different identities. "He grows up not really feeling like he belongs in either world so he's a man trapped between two worlds, but has a responsibility to protect both of them," he said. Aquaman will first appear in The Justice League Part One, due out on November 17, 2017, before setting out on his own adventure in 2018.
