The Punisher may be finally coming to our television and computer screens. TVLine is reporting that Netflix is considering a spinoff featuring actor Jon Bernthal in the title role. Bernthal currently plays the antihero on Netflix's Daredevil and the new series will reportedly center on him. He will make his first appearance on Daredevilwhen the second season premieres on Netflix on March 18.

Daredevil's executive producer, Doug Petrie, told Entertainment Weekly that audiences will love Punisher.

"Viewers watching the show will be rooting for this guy with a gun but we’re also going to force people to second-guess themselves," he said. "Taking lethal justice into your own hands in America in 2015 is tricky s*it. We have not shied away from the rich complicated reality of Now."

The Punisher is a controversial character because he's one of the few who carries a gun. However, Berthal told Entertainment Weekly that he's eager to bring Frank Castle to life.

"People have been coming up to me on the streets of New York saying, 'Do not mess this up," he said. "This character has resonated with law enforcement and military. He's brought the war home with him in the worst possible way. And the best thing about him is that if he offends you, he just doesn't care."

If Netflix develops the Punisher, it will be the sixth Marvel series on the streaming service. Netflix is also preparing to release Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and the Defenders.
