You thought the Idris Elba as James Bondrumors were dead, but, much like the way 007 came back to kick everyone's ass after being presumed killed in action in Skyfall, the Elba-as-Bond talk has been resurrected just in time for the Oscars.

Maybe it was that nearly-perfect Bond trailer Elba was edited into, maybe it's Hollywood's guilt over that damning study showing that their industry really is ridiculously white, or that other study showing that diverse movies actually make more money, but Hollywood is apparently "buzzing" over the casting possibility. And maybe—and this is the best option—it's that people in power positions are recognizing that Idris Elba is dope and would make a dope Bond. Period.

The New York Post is quoting an unnamed "power movie exec" as saying that when it comes to Elba taking on the iconic role, “Is the world ready? I think so.” Other unnamed sources in Hollywood reportedly echoed that sentiment this week.

Elba, who many believe got screwed out of a Best Actor nomination for the Netflix original film Beasts of No Nation, addressed the Bond rumors himself all the way back in September, saying that he hadn't been contacted by the franchise's producers, but perhaps hinting at the need for an Elba-for -campaign of the people.

If human beings want to know if there’s any connectivity between all of us, the one thing I’ve heard around the world universally is that, 'You’ll be great at James Bond!' If it should happen, that’s proof there’s connectivity amongst human beings. If everyone wants something, they can make it happen. That would be true.

Guess that means it's up to you.
