James Bond's 'Spectre' Aston Martin Sells for $3.5 Million

That's a whole lot of cash.

Spectre, the latest in the James Bond canon was arguably not the greatest, even with the addition of Christoph Waltz and action that called for $34 million worth of cars to be destroyed. That only made Bond's already terrible track record with cars worse, which Stephen Colbert proved would make it difficult for Bond to rent a car. One of the cars used (and wrecked) in Spectre was Bond's own Aston Martin DB10. Today that car sold for $3.5 million.

The silver Aston Martin DB10 was specifically made for Spectre. The car was one of over 20 Spectre items sold in an auction held by Christie's to raise money for several charities reports the BBC

According to the BBC, 10 of the Aston Martins were made for the film. The auctioned off Aston Martin was one of two "show cars," meaning it wasn't one of the destroyed ones that was being sold. The car, which reportedly reaches a speed of 190 m.p.h., is said to have been autographed by current bond Daniel Craig and began at a price point of $1.4 million. It ultimately sold for about $3.48 million dollars, or 291,667 martinis. Give or take.

Another notable item included Bond's Day of the Dead costume. It sold for about $141,000. The only problem with the auctioned Aston Martin DB10? It's not legal to drive in public. Bummer.
