It’s becoming increasingly difficult to deny the inevitable. A 24 reboot is coming and it will not feature Jack Bauer. Kiefer Sutherland is too busy pretending to be pregnant in the lackluster follow up to cult classic, Zoolander. Instead, the action series will follow completely new characters while maintaining the same style of the original series.

Straight Outta Compton'sCorey Hawkins is set to star as Eric Carter, a military hero who has trouble reentering the U.S. and enlists the help of CTU to stop a major threat on American soil. Joining him will be Lord of the Rings star and Homeland regular Miranda Otto has joined as Rebecca Ingram, the former head of the Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) who is now married to a senator named John Donovan.  Her character will struggle with doubt over leaving the anti-terrorism agency.

According the Hollywood Reporter, Jimmy Smits just signed on play Donovan who, along with being Ingram's husband, is also a senator running for president. 24 writers Manny Coto and Evan Katz are working on the pilot which is set to air some time in 2016 on Fox.
