In a 9/11 movie that will not feature a white man playing Michael Jackson, Charlie Sheen and Whoopi Goldberg (recently mistaken for Oprah) will co-star.

Variety exclusively reports Sheen and Goldberg will star in a drama about the World Trade Center terrorist attacks in New York City on September 11, 2001, in the aptly titled Nine Eleven. According to Variety, Nine Eleven will tell the story of five people trapped in a World Trade Center elevator on 9/11.

"We are immensely grateful to bring this inspirational story to life. Nine Eleven is a highly emotional journey and it took a dynamic bunch to collectively come together to make this unique film happen," said Nine Eleven director Martin Guigui. "We are fortunate to have such a gifted cast on board. Both Charlie and Whoopi are native New Yorkers who strongly identify with this story."

Nine Eleven executive producer (and manager to Sheen) Mark Burg told the New York Daily News that Goldberg will play an elevator supervisor in one of the World Trade Center towers and that Sheen will portray a character in the elevator.

Sheen, who late last year revealed he was HIV positive, said, "I feel deeply connected to the material and I'm so excited to be working with my dear friend Whoopi Goldberg."

New York City's melting pot population will be reflected in its diverse cast which also includes Luis Guzman, Wood Harris, and Olga Fonda, as reported by Variety.

Filming for Nine Eleven reportedly began on Monday.
