Jada Pinkett Smith Finally Responds to Chris Rock's Oscars Joke: "We Gotta Keep It Moving"

"We gotta keep it moving," Jada said, clearly not concerned with jokes from Rock or anyone else.

Jada Pinkett Smith isn’t even remotely concerned with Chris Rock’s attempt at this year’s Oscars to make a joke of her #OscarsSoWhite-inspired boycott. In fact, Jada is using the joke (which didn’t quite land) as fuel for the battle moving forward. For those who also skipped last month's ceremony, revisit Rock's excerpted monologue below:

"Look, it comes with the territory," Jada told inquiring photographers on Sunday, as quoted by Entertainment Tonight. "We gotta keep it moving." According to the Gotham star, Rock's joke is inconsequential when thinking about the bigger picture. "We got a lot of stuff we got to handle, a lot of stuff going on in our world right now. We gotta keep it moving."

Of course, Jada's Oscars boycott inspired a variety of responses from both those within the industry and fans alike. "There is a position that we hold in this community, and if we're not part of the solution, we're part of the problem," Jada's husband, Will Smith, told ABC News in January of the controversy. "It was her call to action, for herself, and for me and for our family to be a part of the solution."

Chris Rock's monologue, a highly anticipated element of an otherwise maligned awards show, also paired its evisceration of Hollywood's unbearable whiteness with a wholly misguided joke at several kids' expense.
