Katt Williams followed up his announcement to run for president—which he may or may not be serious about, if so, Kanye West and Lindsay Lohan have some competition—by getting arrested. Williams was arrested Monday in Georgia for assaulting a store employee.

Williams was at a Gainesville, Ga. pool supply store Monday morning when he got arrested, according to the Associated Press. He was reportedly with two women at the time when he got into an argument with a store employee said Gainesville Police Sgt. Kevin Holbrook. The argument escalated as Williams threw a pair of goggles at the employee before going behind the counter and punching him at least once said Holbrook.

Police arrived on the scene at approximately 11:30 a.m. and reportedly found Williams outside of the store, "lying on the ground with his hands behind his back as though he was ready to go to jail," said Holbrook. Williams was booked by 1:34 p.m. per online jail records.

The AP reports Hall County sheriff's Deputy Nicole Bailes wrote in an email that he's being held on a misdemeanor battery charge.

As we previously reported Williams made his political plans known Saturday at a stop of his Conspiracy Theory tour where he bashed Kevin Hart for being a "puppet" undeserving of being one of the biggest names in comedy at the moment. Williams also said it wasn't Hart's fault and that he's just a victim of the system saying, "We don't get mad. Just because I’m better than some black dudes, doesn't mean I'm better than no black dudes."

We reached out to Williams' publicist about the arrest but have yet to receive a response.
