John Krasinski Will Be the Next Jack Ryan

This is awesome.

You fell in love with John Krasinski as the dorky sales rep Jim Halpert but now he’s making the jump from comedy to action. The Office star is set to take over a role previously played by Harrison Ford, Alec Baldwin, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine.

According to Deadline, Krasinski will star as Jack Ryan in a series for Amazon, which will be produced through Paramount TV. Based on the novels by Tom Clancy the show is set to follow the U.S. marine turned CIA operative but it’s not expect to be a direct adaptation. While the details on the project are scares (it has yet to see the official green light), it’s safe to say that this will likely be more of a reimagining.

This would be the latest in a slew of movie-to-television reboot. Rush Hour was recently adapted into an abysmal series for CBS, Heathers is getting the reboot treatment and Sarah Michelle Gellarannounced that she’s on board for a Cruel Intentions TV continuation. It was also announced that Dirty Dancing is getting a small screen remake starring Abigail Breslin and Geena Davis has jumped on board for an Exorcist series for FOX.
