Freeform, a.k.a. the network formerly known as ABC Family, is extending Marvel's total domination of film and television with a straight-to-series order of Cloak and Dagger. The live-action take on the story of Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson will mark the network's first foray into Marvel territory and is currently searching for a writer, Varietyconfirms.

The series, described by network officials as a "superhero love story," centers on Tandy and Tyrone's blossoming teenage love as they come to terms with their ever-growing superpowers. As love so often does, the duo's feelings for each other ultimately make their relationship an empowering but difficult balancing act. The teen characters, of course, have also made appearances in Strange Tales and Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man.

Though Cloak and Dagger marks Freeform's first entry in the Marvel TV universe, ABC itself is no stranger to bringing beloved comic book characters to life with predictable blockbuster results. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, currently in the middle of its third season on the network, recently confirmed that Mortal Kombat: Legacy director Kevin Tancharoen would be returning to the series to helm the forthcoming season finale. "This is my first finale," Tancharoen said of the undertaking, as quoted byIGN. "So I want to make sure it's something really solid or there's something signature in there."

So how's the rest of the Marvel TV fam handling the pressures of being pretty much unstoppable? For that, we recommend you consult Jon Bernthal. He would definitely have the answer.
