Zoë Kravitz is reportedly close to joining a clearly hilarious comedy about the accidental death of a male stripper. Kravitz is said to be in "early talks" to join Rock That Body alongside Scarlett Johansson, according toVariety. The film, directed by Broad City's Lucia Aniello, will also star fellow Comedy Central alumPaul W. Downs (as the dead stripper?)
Sony Pictures nabbed the script, co-written by Aniello and Downs, in 2015 after some serious bidding battles. The film follows five friends at a beach house in Miami for a carefree bachelorette weekend, a would-be delightful excursion rudely interrupted by their accidental killing of that aforementioned stripper. Production and related dates have not been revealed, though it's safe to assume this one sounds like a summer banger.
Rock That Body will be produced under Aniello and Downs' Paulilu banner, the same delightful brand responsible for Comedy Central's extra special 4/20 miniseries Time Traveling Bong. The two performers first met at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York and started pumping out instaclassic digital shorts in 2007. Nearly ten years later, it looks like they're going to give us the greatest movie about accidentally killing a stripper ever made.
Kravitz was last seen in the Tribeca favorite Vincent-N-Roxxy, a film (co-starring Kid Cudi and Emile Hirsch) she discussed with us last week. "I think the idea of Roxxy is very much about the warrior we all have inside of us," Kravitz said of her character in the film, soundtracked by Questlove of The Roots. "She is an antihero in the way where she ends up going as a character is not necessarily her intentions or her initial path."
