Anton Yelchin, the 27-year-old star of last year's Green Room and this summer's Star Trek Beyond, passed away Sunday following a freak accident at his San Fernando Valley home. Though known to many for his role as Pavel Chekov in the rebooted Star Trek franchise, Yelchin's all-too-brief career was stacked with memorable performances dating all the way back to the late 1990s.

Yelchin, as shown in JoBlo Movie Trailers' supercut of some of the actor's greatest performances, got his start as a child actor with memorable turns in classic Curb Your Enthusiasm and E.R. episodes before earning critical praise in Nick Cassavetes' 2006 drama Alpha Dog alongside Justin Timberlake.

In 2007, Anton Yelchin squared off against Robert Downey Jr. as the lead in Jon Poll's Charlie Bartlett. The film, centered on a makeshift psychiatrist (Yelchin) who takes it upon himself to help his classmates face reality with some medicinal assistance, remains a cult classic nearly a decade after its release.

In a statement released shortly after Yelchin's passing, Star Trek director J.J. Abrams praised the actor's "brilliant" output:

"I loved the improvisation part of it the most, because it was a lot like just playing around with stuff," Yelchin told the Associated Press in 2011 of the moment he first fell in love with acting. "There was something about it that I just felt completely comfortable doing and happy doing."

Rest in peace, Anton Yelchin.
