The Walking Dead is a decidedly adult-themed television show, right? There are zombies and guns and primitive weapons and the eating of brains. But one photographer decided that it would be a fun project to recreate some of the series' most messed up moments... using kids as the models.

Mother Hubbard Photography, a professional photography business owned by Alana Hubbard in New Jersey that ostensibly sticks mainly to engagement photos and babies in cute outfits posted the Walking Dead kiddie reenactment Sunday. The album is called "Children's Walking Dead Cosplay Shoot," and has a disclaimer description noting (in all caps) that the photos may be "too intense for some."

Some of the photos are in fact pretty disturbing. Little kids smashing each other in the head with barbed-wire wrapped baseball bats (even if it's just pretend) isn't exactly pleasant.

The captions for the photos contain many all caps explanations that no children were hurt during the photo shoot, and that it was all pretend and just for fun. This is because a ton of people flipped the hell out that a photographer would pose kids in such violent pictures, even if it wasn't real.

But plenty of other people thought the photos were adorable and/or hilarious (and of course the "free speech" folks came out of the woodwork when the photos started to get reported).

Hubbard told Toofab that she knew the shoot would be popular because it's related to the hit show, but she had no idea the pictures would be "THIS huge or this controversial." She added that her own kids were involved in the photo-shoot, and that other children were the children of her clients.

Alana Hubbard did not immediately reply to Complex's request for comment.
