Despite suggesting earlier this week that he's currently in an ongoing dispute with Comedy Central's parent company over a certain Colbert Report character, Stephen Colbert still tapped the network's endless supply of talent for Thursday's Late Show. Broad City stars Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson stopped by to celebrate Hillary Clinton's historic Democratic nomination by taking it all the way back to July 4, 1776, i.e. a very, very, very long time ago.

"I just wanted you to know it's 2016 and we finally have a female presidential nominee," Colbert told Glazer and Jacobson, who were portraying two delegates from the second Continental Congress in 1776. "Butter my bonnet!" Jacobson said in celebration. "That is incredible! I'm going to celebrate by making a meal for my husband and cleaning it up immediately!"

These delegates, however, were sadly mistaken. "I cannot believe that, in the year 1816, we finally have a female president!" Glazer said before Colbert clarified that it's actually 2016. "You telling me it takes 240 years to get a female president?" Glazer said in disbelief. "What the butter is wrong with you people?"

Clinton made a very GIF-worthy cameo on Broad City earlier this year, dropping in on an episode that featured Glazer volunteering for her presidential campaign. "We were shooting and then we had to reset the camera for a different take and we were just chatting, just three girls chatting," Jacobson toldE! News of the experience.
