Canada's next astronaut might be this eight-year old girl.

The Canadian Space Agency has been looking for two new astronauts. That public request has made them quite busy this month, filtering through thousands of applicants from across the country. Eight year-old Sahana Khatri, might be the most interesting case.

The young lady worked on her submission for an entire week in her home of Vaudreuil, Quebec. Khatri figured she’d give it a shot, but had no idea she’d get a response back.

In a video posted to his Facebook page, Quebec MP Peter Schiefke, shows his meeting with the young space hopeful. Khatri reads aloud her letter, citing her good grades, her scientific and mathematical prowess, and of course her love of space. While she's not even a decade old, Khatri swears, "for a long time, I've wanted to be an astronaut". While the Space Agency submissions are open to anyone, eight year-olds are hard-pressed to be taken seriously. However, because Canada is awesome, Khatri is being encouraged and recognized.

The Facebook video has been picking up steam, and now received a response from Canadian Minister of Science and Innovation, Navdeep Bains.

Delighted to see 8-year old Sana's application to become an astronaut. Canada's future is bright. Thx @PeterSchiefkehttps://t.co/fvLDg7i7zz

Khatri might not be heading to space anytime soon, but she’ll getting our vote when the time is right.

If you feel like traveling outside the atmosphere, The Canadian Space Agency is accepting applications until August 15th.
