Aubrey Plaza's new TBS pilot about celebrities' nightmares simply sounds too weird to not be great.

Aubrey Plaza is mashing up two of the biggest money magnets on TV, terror and hilarity, for a new TBS pilot that simply sounds way too good (re: weird) to not become a full-blown series. Plaza will executive produce and guest star as herself in the scripted half-hour pilot Nightmare Time, TV Linereported Wednesday.

This is usually the part of the article where we break down, using our own clever words, what exactly the prospective series is about. But given that the official logline does a better job of that in this case than we could ever do, we'll just include it here in full:

"Set in Aubrey Plaza's Nightmare Clinic, celebrity guests check in to overcome recurring nightmares. Thanks to advanced technology, we're able to peer into their restless minds, and witness their nightmares in real time. But what is 'real' anyway? Maybe it's all just a nightmare in Aubrey's mind. One endless nightmare that could eventually destroy her and the entire world."

Each episode would focus on two allegedly "insane" nightmares inspired by modern society's numerous horrors while, according to TBS, encompassing the horror genre's usual "tropes and touchstones." In addition to appearing in the pilot and exec-producing, Plaza will be writing the pilot alongside Darcy Fowler (Louie), Kieran Valla, and Seth Kirschner (30 Rock).

Plaza will next be seen in the X-Men series Legion as Lenny Busker, premiering on FX next year. Speaking with Vanity Fair back in May, series creator Noah Hawley teased his ambitious plans. "I always feel like the structure of a story should reflect the content of the story," Hawley said. "If the story, as in this case, is about a guy who is either schizophrenic or he has these abilities, i.e., he doesn't know what's real and what’s not real, then the audience should have the same experience."
