A lawsuit has been filed against actor James Franco. And the details are, to be honest, kind of hilarious.
As reported by Variety, the lawsuit filed by Los Angeles photographer David Tonnessen claims that Franco headbutted him during a Lana Del Rey concert that took place in a cemetery. Tonnessen says he was at the concert taking photos when he heard someone behind him, turned, and saw Franco.
What allegedly happened next cant be summarized any better than Variety already has, so...
According to the court documents, the "Spider-man" and "Pineapple Express" actor smiled "rather demonically" at Tonnessen, and "with a blank expression of joy on his face," charged at him. Tonnessen said he was head-butted in the stomach and knocked to the ground. After getting knocked over, he says Franco ran into the crowd, leaving him wounded on the ground.
Tonnessen says that the attack put him in the hospital, and that he suffered both permanent physical and emotional damage. He's suing the actor for both monetary and punitive damages.
Del Rey performed concerts on back-to-back nights at the weird Hollywood Forever Cemetery, which is an actual cemetery and also a concert venue, back on Oct. 17 and 18 of 2014 as part of her Ultraviolence tour.
That would have been right around the time that all the crazy stuff was going on with Franco's movie The Interview, which some theaters refused to show that fall after a group with ties to North Korea hacked Sony Pictures and threatened attacks on theaters if they showed the movie.
The Los Angeles Times says Tonnessen was arrested in 2008 as part of a crackdown on papparazzi who were allegedly blocking the sidewalk outside a Los Angeles medical center as they waited to photograph Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan.
