TheJurassic Park franchise is about to take aim at the biggest monsters of all: people. Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow, who will also serve as producer on the sequel, recently spoke with El Mundo about the ambitious concept at the heart of Juan Antonio Bayona's film, due in 2018.
"The dinosaurs will be a parable of the treatment animals receive today: the abuse, medical experimentation, pets, having wild animals in zoos like prisons, the use the military has made of them, animals as weapons," Trevorrow said, according toTime. Noting that Jurassic World 2 will encompass "more complex" ideas than its predecessor, Trevorrow explained why Bayona was the right person for the job.
"The second part will be a very different movie that will explore new paths," Trevorrow said. "For that reason, it was clear that it needed to be Bayona who would direct it, in order to have it grow and evolve with his very personal vision."
Speaking withCollider surrounding the release of Pete's Dragon in June, Bryce Dallas Howard said she was stoked to get to work on the Jurassic World sequel. "I'm so excited," Howard said. "I've never had that experience before, getting to play a character twice." Howard will be joined by her fellow OG Jurassic World star Chris Pratt, who can next be seen doing love stuff in space with Jennifer Lawrence in Passengers:
Jurassic World 2, which will presumably get a cooler title soon, hits theaters with its PETA vibes June 22, 2018.
