Logan, which currently looks like it's going to be very fucking good, will mark Hugh Jackman's final slice of Wolverine action. With approximately three trillion X-Men films under his belt, Jackman's decision is totally understandable. Dude will get to leave on a high note. But Ryan Reynolds, currently prepping to recapture the Deadpool magic with a hotly anticipated sequel, has different plans.
"I want Deapdool and Wolverine in a movie together," Reynolds toldEntertainment Weekly Friday. "What we're gonna have to do is convince Hugh. If anything, I'm going to need to do what I can to get my internet friends back on board to help rally another cause down the line." These "internet friends," after all, were a huge fucking part of Deadpool getting made in the first place.
But Reynolds' publicly declared desire for a proper Deadpool x Wolverine cinematic spectacular isn't just a ploy to get two iconic characters back together again, it's also rooted in his fondness for Jackman as a fellow human being. "Hugh Jackman is one of the best human beings," Reynolds toldEW. "Part of the reason I want to do a Deadpool/Wolverine movie is not just because I think the two would light the screen on fire but I genuinely love the guy."
But unless any of Reynolds wishes are met with unlikely enthusiasm from X-Men vet Jackman, we should probably just get comfortable with the idea that Logan is it. The James Mangold-directed Wolverine film, also starring Patrick Stewart and Dafne Keen, hits theaters Mar. 3, 2017.
