Legendary actress, singer, and mother-of-Carrie-Fisher Debbie Reynolds died on Wednesday night of a heart attack, just a day after her daughter. In the hours after Reynolds' death, the star of such classic films as Singin' in the Rain and How the West Was Won received tributes from show business figures all over the spectrum, from her peers in their eighties and nineties to pop stars of today, and just about everyone in between.

Ariana Grande and Miley Cyrus were among the young artists to express their grief:

The Rock and Ellen DeGeneres weighed in as well.

Showbiz legends like Carl Reiner, Debbie Allen, Albert Brooks, Bette Midler, and more—many of whom had worked with Reynolds over the years—offered up their thoughts.

The Academy itself offered up perhaps the most fitting tribute in a touching message.
