Feminism isn’t a t-shirt. It’s not a hat you wear, or a slogan you spout. It’s a system with a very specific set of beliefs that should be ingrained in every decent human being. It's too bad the men of Saturday Night Live didn’t get the memo.
In "Girl at The Bar," one of the most hilarious sketches of the year (and maybe the decade), SNL skewers all the bros out there who use feminism as way to get laid.
It begins innocently enough, with Cecily Strong waiting for Aidy Bryant at a bar. She’s approached by Beck Bennett, who assures her that he’s not a creepy dude by showing her his “future is female” t-shirt (she’s wearing one too). But when she rejects his advances, he calls her a “bitch” and asks her why she won’t let him “nut.”
Eventually she’s rescued by Kyle Mooney, who informs Strong that he too is a feminist because he went to the Women’s March in Washington D.C. But when Strong refuses to go back to his place, Mooney’s true bro rears his ugly head. The gag keeps going, with Mikey Day and Alex Moffat both doing their best to seduce Strong by proving to her how woke they are, but to no avail.
It’s a biting piece of satire that proves not even liberals are safe from Saturday Night Live’s cross hairs.
