SNL returns to NBC this weekend with host Octavia Spencer and musical guest Father John Misty.

In her monologue, Spencer poked fun at her nurse roles on various television shows. After asking the audience if they tuned into the Oscars, she made a point about how people were getting confused distinguishing Fences and Hidden Figures. “I get it, I get it. There were three black movies at the Oscars this year. That’s a lot for Americans. So if you were gonna get confused anyway, I thought I’d make some money off it anyway. That’s why I produced Hidden Fence Light,” she says.

Spencer has been acting in television and movies for nearly two decades, and recently has been recognized for work in Hidden Figures. She played Dorothy Vaughan, one of the NASA mathematicians dubbed “human computers” at the Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. She starred alongside Taraji P. Henson and Janelle Monáe who played Katherine Goble Johnson and Mary Jackson.

The film was nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars. Spencer was nominated for Best Supporting Actress. Theodore Melfi and Allison Schroeder were nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay for their work on Hidden Figures.

Spencer currently stars in the new Christian movie, The Shack, which is film by Stuart Hazeldine. You can watch her monologue above.
