Working out is hard. You have to contend with sweat, more sweat, and copious bros. The annoyance is probably worth it, however, if you're getting the opportunity to play Captain America in some of the biggest movies ever. But as Chris Evans revealed in a new interview, not even Captain America can last forever.

"My mother will be leading that fan base," Evans toldUSA Today during an interview Tuesday in promotion of his new movie Gifted, addressing the likely sadness of fans whenever he walks away from his Marvel job. Though Evans' contract doesn't currently extend beyond his appearance in 2019's Avengers 4, Evans said he would support "however they want to proceed" with the character.

Evans has seemingly made peace with the idea of one day exiting the Captain America industry for good, but that doesn't mean he won't miss it. "I'd be lying if I said it wouldn't be hard for me," Evans said. "But the passing of time and the passing of torches is part of the experience. Nothing lasts forever. There's a beauty in that departure, even if it can be sad at times. It's also joyful."

Citing Batman and James Bond as examples of successful character reinventions, Evans said he's "had a great run" and will walk away with zero regrets. "These movies find new incarnations and new ways to tell the story," he said. "I am all for it." Whenever his inevitable departure may be, Evans added, he will be walking away from the experience with zero regrets. And then he's going to start eating a lot of food.

"When you're creeping on 36, working out is a little bit harder," Evans explained. "Not impossible, but it just gets a little bit more daunting." When he's done with Captain America, Evans is aiming to "get fat" with the assistance of delicious late-night meals of potato chips and ice cream.
